Nubia created NBU Bath Botanicals to integrate her love of nature, beauty, self-care and intentional spiritual bathing. She discovered when deeply researching the etymology of her birth name, that the name Nubia is derived from the Egyptian word NUB, NBW or NBU meaning GOLD, known also as the Land of Gold. The Egyptian consonant W may also be pronounced as U and NBU is likely pronounced ‘Nābu’ (nah-bew).
Home to Africa's earliest kingdoms, Ancient Nubia, now Sudan, thrived nearly 200 years before, alongside and after Egypt. The first people of the Nile recorded celestial observations over 1000’s of years, tracking and mapping out the world and our first technology. How long it takes the Earth to circle the Sun, the patterns and significance of the rising of stars, the orbit of the planets, Sun and Moon, plant and lunar cycles are all examples of observations recorded that led to the development of the most significant architecture in the world and the most accurate lunar calendar still used to date.
Nubia is known to have been abundant with ebony, ivory, gold, incense, rocks and precious stones of carnelian, jasper and amethyst. In our original logo is the Egyptian symbol and hieroglyph for the word GOLD, a NEBŪ 𓋞 A NEBŪ is a Nubian shield ring or gold-beaded collar with 7 spines of precious stones, beads or shells. Surrounding the NEBŪ is a triangle representing all aspects of the Goddess, the Sky, the Moon and Sun and the illusion of a pyramid from multiple perspectives. The Octagons are representative of Infinite Abundance • 888 • and the line work is meant to represent the integration and interconnectedness of Holistic Healing, how all things in nature work in harmony to balance the aspects of the whole person.
